Lost in Boston: Mission Accomplished

Third time is the charm. I tried cutting through Everett again and made it! It adds about 8 minutes to my commute but saves $3.50, so it's worth it. To celebrate this important breakthrough, I thought I'd share a special picture from back in my college days.

Lost in Boston: Saugus and Everett Part II

Remember a month ago when I got lost in Everett? It's been 33 days and I must have thought, gee that will be fun again. This description will be shorter, I promise.

I tried to go to Trader Joe's after work. I failed. I mean, I got there (I'm eating pity sushi as I type), but I failed to take the shortest route.

I was going to Trader Joe's to get myself sushi and chocolate covered raisins as bribe to get through camping out at school tonight to write an essay for a summer co-op application. I decided that since I was already delaying going to the library, I might as well give my Everett toll bypass another try. I wrote out very clear directions from work-TJ-getting through Everett-small free bridge-Storrow-school. Nothing could go wrong.

It did. Missed a turn, hit water. Pulled a U-turn, found an intersection with a truck completely blocking it with no hope of forward progress. Went left - why not? - and found one of the roads I was supposed to be on. (That's all on Map 1) Next thing I know, I see a sign for Rt. 99 South, which I want. I hopped on the ramp to the circle, not sure where my exit was since only half the exits have signs...went a full 375 degrees and got off at the first exit I had originally passed. (See Map 2).

I have NO IDEA how I got from Map 1 (inset) to Map 2. I definitely went through the circle. I definitely didn't go north on 99, hit the circle, go 180° or 540°, and come back south on 99. The logical way to get from where I was on Map 1 to Rt. 99 involves an intersection but no circle. Like I said, I have no idea.

From there I did okay. Found the bridge, found Storrow, made it to school. And now my procrastination must come to an end.

GW vs. Harvard, Mens Basketball, 2pm
GW lost, 69-48 but our photo made it into the magazine

Patriots vs. Broncos, NFL, 8pm
Patriots won, 45-10. Apparently god wanted us to win more.

Beantown Indoor Soccer

tertio edidit (published a third time)

I'm published again, sort of. I helped write this Shelterforce article this summer while on co-op at the National Law Center on Homelessness & Poverty. Admittedly there have been a number of changes from the draft I submitted, but I gave up a day of vacation to work on this, so I'm very appreciative of being credited.
